Chandigarh Group of College (CGC) Awards
- Today at Chandigarh Group of College (CGC) of Jhanjeri, Mohali, on the occasion of National Girl Child Day, Dr Harshindar Kaur from Patiala was honored for her selfless service towards saving girl child for last 28 years. Through her trust, Dr Harsh Charitable Trust, she is already paying the school fee of 415 poor orphan girls since 2008. Now she has added 6 more orphan girls of farmers who lost their lives during ongoing Farmer Agitation. All these girls are pursuing higher education and unable to pay expenses. Dr Gurpal Singh, General Secretary of the Trust, thanked Chandigarh Group of Colleges for this honor to Dr Harshindar Kaur. ADC Mohali was also present at the occasion. Already known as the “Steel Woman of India” and two times recipient of State Award, Dr Kaur was felicitated by President and Vice President of India for raising voice against female feticide at international level. Dr Harshindar Kaur regularly writes, gives talks on TV and radio to create awareness not only for saving the girl child but also crimes against women. Today's award was a Life time achievement award for saving the girl child.
